Alberta Regional Occupational Demand Outlook, 2011-2015

Whether you are doing work force planning, hiring, providing career advice, or exploring career options, the Alberta Occupational Forecast can help you with your decisions.

Current labour market information is essential to career practitioners, employers, teachers and students.  This forecast highlights 140 occupations for 14 industries and how they are expected to grow over a five-year period.

The information is organized by occupation and by year. The table outlines the number of jobs in each occupation, the percentage of the labour market they account for, and the percentage of projected growth from 2011 through to 2015.

For each occupational category, there are three lines of information. The first line is the number of people within that occupation. Very large occupation groups are considered to be 10,000 people or more, large is 5,000 to 10,000, moderate is 1,000 to 5,000, small is 500 to 1,000 and occupation groups less than 500 people are considered to be very small.

The second line is the percent change and reflects the annual average growth projected for each occupation.

The third line identifies the share, which is the percentage of the labour market that the occupation accounts for.
